YIPENG The Lanna Light Festival 2024

Get ready for the highly anticipated Yi Peng Festival in Chiang Mai! This year’s "YIPENG The Lanna Light Festival 2024" will take place on November 13-17, bringing the city to life with beautiful lights and contemporary Lanna-style decorations. It’s the perfect time to physically experience the sense of the festival in a distinct manner, after the recovery of the recent floods. Let’s come together to uplift spirits and support the local economy of Chiang Mai!

The Yi Peng Festival is a showcase of Lanna culture and an international event that boosts the local economy and promotes sustainability in Chiangmai. The festival aligns with the “12 Months, 12 Festivals” policy initiated by the PAO and the government’s “soft power” initiative with the aim to strengthen the national economy by preserving local identity.

The event is organized by the Lanna MICE & Tourism Business Association in collaboration with the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and Chulalongkorn University, with support from the National Science, Research and Innovation Fund (NSRF) and the Thailand Competitiveness Fund.

This year’s festival includes four main activities:

  • Yi-Peng Communication – Promoting the festival and local products through online media and the website at visitlannaassociation.com.

  • Yi-Peng Illumination – Lighting up various interesting locations such as temples, communities, and cafes, by transforming the area into a Night-Light Festival to boost the economy during the night time.

  • Yi-Peng Product & Service – Showcasing products and services that highlight Lanna culture, including eco-friendly items like local foods, handicrafts, and spa services.

  • Yi-peng Navigator – An event map and mission-based travel guide which the visitors can experience Chiang Mai immersively and stimulate the economy in the Northern region.
