On November 27th, which is the first dayof the Loy Krathong Festival, lanterns that emit smoke or firecrackers are allowed only from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. As for floating lanterns and fire lanterns, they are allowed to be released only from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
On November 28th, the day of the grand Loy Krathong Festival, floating lanterns, and fire lanterns can be released only from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
However, releasing lanterns that emit smoke or firecrackers is not allowed. It is emphasized that lanterns must be released in areas where permission has been granted.
In this case, those who disregard the regulations by lighting and releasing floating lanterns without authorization may face penalties, including a maximum prison term of 5 years, a fine not exceeding 200,000 Baht, or a combination of both. Furthermore, suppose the release of lanterns leads to a fire. In that case, the penalties may extend to a maximum prison term of 7 years, a fine not exceeding 140,000 Baht, or a combination thereof, depending on the circumstances.
